Forthyron
Tablets containing Levothyroxine sodium, a synthetic replacement of the missing thyroid hormones.

Hormone
Hormones act as chemical messengers to body organs stimulating certain life processes and retarding others.

Hypothyroidism
The result of insufficient production of thyroid hormones (T3 and T4) from the thyroid gland in the neck.

Levothyroxine sodium
The active ingredient in Forthyron.

Pituitary Gland
A gland situated at the base of the brain. The pituitary gland releases TSH which in turn stimulates the production and release of thyroid hormones from the thyroid gland into the bloodstream.

Thyroid gland
Located in the neck and divided into two lobes, the lobes lie on either side of the windpipe (trachea). The thyroid gland produces thyroid hormones.

Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH)
Hormone produced in the pituitary gland which stimulates the thyroid gland to produce thyroid hormones.

Thyroxine (T4)
A hormone produced by the thyroid gland.

Triiodothyronine (T3)
A hormone produced by the thyroid gland.
